They’re perfect when you fancy a sweet treat without any fuss.

Quick Overview

  • Preparation Time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 15-20 minutes
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Serves: 8-10 pastry parcels

Ingredients

  • 8.5 oz (240g) rectangular puff pastry
  • 5.3 oz (150g) gianduia spread
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) milk (or water)
  • Icing sugar for dusting

Method

  1. Preheat your static oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking tray with baking parchment.
  2. Gently unroll the puff pastry onto a clean work surface and cut it into 8-10 squares or rectangles of similar size.
  3. Place a generous teaspoon of gianduia spread in the centre of each piece of puff pastry.
  4. Fold the puff pastry to form a triangle or rectangle, sealing the edges well with your fingers or the tines of a fork to prevent the filling from escaping.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolk with the milk (or water) and brush the surface of each pastry parcel to encourage even browning.
  6. Transfer the pastry parcels to the prepared baking tray and bake in the hot oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are well risen and golden brown.
  7. Allow them to cool slightly before dusting with icing sugar.

Serving & Leftovers

The pastry parcels are best served warm, when the filling is still soft and the pastry crisp. Any leftovers can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 1-2 days. They can be reheated briefly in the oven to restore their flakiness.
